Absurd statement by Sukhbir Badal

Sukhpal Singh Khaira
Dated: May 12. 2010
MLA Bholath

Congress takes strict cognizance of the word ‘Kabza’ (unauthorized possession) used by Sukhbir Badal Dy. CM at a public meeting in Bathinda while inaugurating a ROB yesterday. This absurd statement of Sukhbir Badal that he will not leave ‘Kabza’ of Punjab for the next 25 years is an ample reflection of his feudal and autocratic mindset.

It is clear beyond doubt that he has the scantest regard for democratic and constitutional functioning. Infact all allegations of murder of democracy leveled by Congress stand vindicated by the arrogant statement of junior Badal. With this statement of Sukhbir Badal, it is now confirmed that all municipal and Panchayat elections were rigged in a well planned manner with gross misuse of official machinery in the state.

Having mastered the art of rigging elections, Sukhbir Badal with his feudal approach has planned to remain in ‘Kabza’ or unauthorized possession of Punjab as well for the next 25 years through his sinister machinations.

In order to fulfill his nefarious designs to remain in unauthorized possession over Punjab, the junior Badal has already taken ‘Kabza’ of the important trades of transport, cable network, sand quarrying and bulk liquor to make hundreds of crores at the cost of public exchequer. Having tasted power by throwing to winds all constitutional norms Sukhbir Badal is planning to remain in ‘Kabza’ of our Punjab with the help of the ill gotten wealth.

It is also saddening to note that the President of the same party that misled the people of Punjab  by coining emotional vote catching slogans of ‘Raj nahi sewa’ is now resorting to remain in ‘Kabza’ with the help of illegitimate and unconstitutional means.

Congress party demands immediate resignation of the Dy. CM for making such an undemocratic and unconstitutional statement and at the same time urges Sukhbir Badal to tender an unconditional apology to the people of Punjab for hurting their sentiments by trying to remain in unauthorized possession. Congress also urges the Governor of Punjab to dismiss him from the Cabinet for violating the oath of Constitution taken by him.
