NEW ORLEANS - Announcing itself with shrieking,
145-mph winds, Hurricane Katrina slammed into
the Gulf Coast just outside New Orleans on
Monday, submerging entire neighborhoods up
to their roofs, swamping Mississippi's beachfront
casinos and blowing out windows in hospitals,
