Paul's Charity Foundation, gifts Jalandhar "School of Excellence
in engineering"

NRI Lord Swaraj Paul entrepreneur of Caparo Group,
UK, and founder of The Ambika Paul Foundation, on Tuesday, opened
a School of Excellence at Jalandhar, which will specialise in
providing manufacturing, engineering and management education.
Lord Paul said:
- I am proud that I am in a position to give
something back to Jalandhar, Punjab, my birthplace- "The
Caparo School of Excellence is my gift to India in the name
of my daughter Ambika
- For the first academic year, the School will
offer three degree courses:
- B-Tech (Electronics) specialising in Manufacturing
Electronics
- B-Tech (Mechanical) specializing in Manufacturing
Technology
- B-Tech (Information Technology) specialising
in Process Planning
- Each course will start with 30 students, 200
students in 2008 and 300 students in 2009
- Postgraduate Degrees and Research Degrees will
be started in 2009.
- The school will collaborate with selected UK
and USA universities and will be called "Dream Team of
Engineers." The Courses will emphasis on the integration
of modern engineering concepts with manufacturing processes
and management.
- The training will be provided to scientists and engineers
- Will focus areas for Research & Development which include
Geometric Modelling, Design for Manufacturability and Triflogy,
Computer Aided Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
in Manufacturing.
The school will be funded by The
Ambika Paul Foundation, a charitable trust set up in memory
of Lord Paul's daughter who sadly lost her battle with Leukaemia
in 1968.
Lord Paul is a British Ambassador for overseas business and he
said, the young engineers will be hired by Caparo in India and abroad.
