On January 9, 2019, Ned Lamont, Democratic, was sworn in as the 89th Governor of Connecticut.

Indra Nooyi, a classmate of Lamont’s in the third graduating class from the Yale School of Management in 1980 and the former chief executive and chairwoman of PepsiCo Inc., will co-chair an expanded board of directors for the Connecticut Economic Resource Center Inc. as outside advisers to help and improve his state’s economy. Greenwich resident Indra Nooyi  have previously worked with Lamont and voiced support for his campaign.

“I’m sort of a missionary for Connecticut,” Nooyi said during an economic forum in Greenwich, CT, last month, reported the Courant. “Nobody in the Connecticut political system has reached out to us until Ned became governor. Nobody has ever said, ‘Come and help Connecticut.’ I want to do my part. It’s time for me to give back.”
Ms. Nooyi, 63,  who lives in Greenwich, stepped down as CEO of PepsiCo in August, 2018, agreed to play a role in recruiting companies to move to Connecticut as unpaid volunteers.  In 2017, Nooyi got over $31 million in total compensation from PepsiCo.

“Drivers today say, ‘My God, this state is a mess.’ That’s a huge difference, but I think we have the opportunity to bring back a spirit of winning,” Nooyi said. “Do we have problems? Yes, but as a resident of Connecticut, somebody who intends to go out of Connecticut feet first, I want to be part of the solution, not just abandon the state and try to go someplace that is sunnier and has lower taxes.”

Indra Nooyi introduced Connecticut Governor Lamont to Ravi Kumar, the CEO of Infosys, an India-based company to locate one of its new business hubs in Hartford. Ravi Kumar S. is a President and the Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Infosys. He is a trustee of the Infosys Foundation, USA.Ravi  leads the Infosys global delivery organization across all global industry segments, driving digital transformation services, application development and maintenance; independent validation services, engineering services. Ravi is championing and leading the U.S talent model for Infosys to drive the creation of new Innovation and Technology Hubs by collaborating with clients, local state governments and academic ecosystems. Under his leadership, the Hyderabad Development Center, housing 22,000+ employees, won the Infosys Excellence Award for the Best Development Center five years in a row from 2010 to 2014. Ravi's responsibilities include managing the alliances organization and the partner ecosystems at Infosys.

Ned Lamont has also named David Lehman, a partner at Goldman Sachs, for a new role overseeing the state’s overall economic-development and business strategy. Mr. Lehman will serve as both commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development as well as the governor’s senior economic adviser.

In 2016, General Electric moving its base from Fairfield to Boston which was biggest loss to the State. Connecticut has been hit hard by some prime companies leaving the State.

Ned Lamont, shortly after college, founed a weekly newspaper  and helped to bring voice and transparency to a community working to recover from job losses and reinvent itself. Lamont also served as Chairman of the State Investment Advisory Council, overseeing a multibillion-dollar state pension fund.

Ned Lamont started his own company and the company grew to serve over 400 of America's largest college campuses and 1 million college students across the nation.
Lamont is on the faculty of Central Connecticut State University as an adjunct professor of political science and philosophy, where he also helped to found a popular business start-up competition.

As a candidate for United States Senate in 2006, he stood up for his convictions and challenged the political establishment.

After graduating Phillips Exeter in 1972, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Harvard College in 1976 and a Master of Business Administration from the Yale School of Management in 1980.
