Yoga Instructor “NRI Rajpal Singh” Convicted of Molesting
Womens During Classes in Singapore

After a 13-day trial, former yoga instructor Rajpal Singh was convicted for molesting three women during his classes. The 34-year-old INRI Rajpal, who previously worked at Trust Yoga on Telok Ayer Street, was acquitted of molesting a fourth woman.

District Judge Sharmila Sripathy-Shanaz found Singh guilty of five molestation charges involving three women, referred to as Ms. C, Ms. V, and Ms. R, describing them as "unusually convincing" witnesses. However, Singh was cleared of three other charges involving a fourth woman, Ms. Y. The judge noted that while Ms. Y was a sincere witness, her ongoing support for Singh contradicted her allegations. Text messages Ms. Y sent on August 3, 2020, praising Singh as a good instructor, were presented during the trial.

Ms. C, who was 24 at the time, attended Singh's class from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on July 11, 2020. Closed-circuit television footage of the session, admitted as evidence, showed Singh molesting her while she was in a "forward fold" yoga position and again in another pose.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Selene Yap and Gladys Lim stated that Ms. C felt violated and confused by the incident, as she had expected yoga classes to be a safe environment. She confided in a friend and her mother before reporting the incident to Ms. Wong Shiou An, a co-owner of Trust Yoga, on July 12, 2020. Ms. C filed a police report the following day.

Rajpal Singh no longer conducts classes at Trust Yoga.
