NRI Amandeep Singh Jailed for DUI Crash That Killed Two Teens

NRI Amandeep Singh has been sentenced to 8 to 25 years in prison for the deaths of 14-year-olds Ethan Falkowitz and Drew Hassenbein in a drunk driving crash in Nassau County.
The 36-year-old construction executive was convicted of driving his pickup truck the wrong way at 95 mph while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. The crash, which occurred in May 2023, killed the two teens and injured two others.
During an emotional sentencing in Mineola, the victims’ families expressed grief and anger over the sentence, calling it inadequate. “He gave my son a death sentence, and all of us a life sentence,” said Drew’s father, Mitch Hassenbein.
Singh, who initially pleaded not guilty, later admitted guilt in January. He expressed remorse in court, calling his actions “the epitome of stupidity and selfishness.” However, families vowed to fight against any early parole, ensuring Singh serves the full 25 years.
Authorities and advocates are now pushing for tougher sentencing laws in cases involving multiple deaths caused by DUI.
