NRI Doctor,
resident student committed suicide in Scranton, Pennsylvania

NRI/Indian student, Akkaladevi Srinivas, 29, had
committed suicide and his his body was found in his apartment
in a pool of blood with stab wounds to his neck. The police said
it was not murdered and a note found scribbled on a mirror in
his apartment. He made several attempts to kill himself with knife.
In 2002, he came to the US for higher studies after
finishing his MBBS from Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, India
in 1995.
He was doing his MD in Internal medicine under
the Scranton-Temple Residency programme at Mercy Hospital in Scranton
town in Pennsylvania.
According to India news media, his father, Garage
Anjiah said he had promised his family and relatives that he would
come back and set up a modern hospital in his native Korutla town.
He was unmarried, lived alone and he had the planning to visit
India during April or May and had agreed to see some girls for
getting married. His friends said they did not notice any signs
of depression or any other reason for suicide.
Akkaladevi Srinivas’s mother is staying with
his sister and brother-in-law who are both doctors settled in
Cincinnati, US. Srinivas’s body would be sent to India.
