A UK-based NRI, Shivnath Singh Kanda, today announced a reward of Rs five lakh for anybody providing information about the five alleged killers of his brother, including a former president of the Punjab Youth Congress.

Addressing a press conference here, Kanda alleged that political parties and police in Punjab and Haryana were providing shelter to the five men, who allegedly killed his brother Amarjeet Singh in Gurgaon on December 9, 2003.

Both the brothers, who were travelling in car, were attacked, allegedly by Devender Singh alias Babbu (former president of Punjab Youth Congress), Kuldip Singh alias Kali, Manu, Vijay Sharma and Sarabjeet Singh Sabi.

While Amarjeet Singh died of bullet injuries, Kanda survived the bullet wound. Kanda said the five men were his brother’s business partners and killed him because of rivalry. An FIR was registered in Gurgaon. A local court had declared the five Proclaimed Offenders on April 15, 2004.

Kanda said that despite being declared POs, the police have failed to nab the accused. He alleged that the five accused, who are from Jalandhar are well connected, and are being given shelter by the police and politicians of Punjab and Haryana.

He alleged that the police did not arrest even Devender Singh and Vijay Sharma who were recently spotted at social functions in Jalandhar. Kanda is also from Jalandhar
