The funeral arrangements were at Oakwood Memorial Pa rk, Chatsworth, California Friday June 5, 2009 between 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. There were over 1000 people assembled to pay their last respect to the parted. People came from Southern & Northern California, Punjab, Canada and other cities of USA. There were some very important dignitaries present at the funeral:

Shirimati Bhai Sahiba Bibiji Inderjit Kaur Khalsa of Sikh Dharma along with her son Bhai Ranbir Singh and daughter Kamaljit Kaur Kohli, Dr. Amarji Singh Marwah of Malibu Beach, S. Didar Singh Bains from Yuba City, S. Najar Singh a Sikh community leader from Bakerfields, S. Arvinder from Stevenso Ranch of Sikh Symposium of Hemkunt Foundation and a politcian in california S. Navraj Singh.

First of all Japji Sahib and Sohila Sahib pathes were recited by the Head Granthi Bhai Gurdeep Singh of Lankershim Gurdwara, CA. After the Ardaas late Sidhu’s son Jaggi thanked everyone for coming and sharing the pai n. He admired his father and said he was wonderful father and a very good husband. He taught us to be strong and gave us family values. At the end he tried to say now I will see him for another five minutes… Punj minute... then he could not control and started crying.

After that Jaggi’s cousin spoke very high of his uncle (Masser Ji). He also thanked everyone in supporting the family at such a grieving time.

After that the body was taken to chamber for cremation. At about 2:30 PM every one proceeded to20Gurdwara Lankershim. There after the Akahand Sahib Bhog ceremony Gurbani Keertan was recited. Then the Antim Ardaas and Hukum Nama. At the end Guru ka Langar was served.

S. Surinder Singh Sidhu untimely and sudden death at the age of 56 in India, last week, has our community in a state of mourning.

S. Surinder Singh Sidhu was a prominent Sikh Community Leader, including holding leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal in the United States, and will be missed by our community, his friends and family. May God give courage to his grieving friends and family and especially to his mother, father, wife, son and daughter who survive him.
