Dr. T N Subramaniam, an esteemed mathematician of Indian origin renowned for his contributions to academia and industry, passed away in Michigan on Tuesday at the age of 76.

Subramaniam, who immigrated to the United States in 1979, held a distinguished reputation in both Indian and American academic circles. Throughout his career, he forged a legacy of pioneering mathematical models and theories that significantly impacted the field.

After initially teaching Mathematics at Philadelphia University, he relocated to Oakland, where he continued to impart his knowledge for several years. Subramaniam's expertise extended beyond academia, as he ventured into the corporate world, notably founding the Route One company, which specialized in auto-financing for the automotive manufacturing giant, General Motors (GM). Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the development of the server infrastructure for GM's website in Troy, Michigan, showcasing his multifaceted talents and contributions to the technological landscape.

His innovative endeavors garnered recognition beyond professional circles, with then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi personally meeting him during one of her tours. Encouraging him to pursue innovative paths that would bring pride to the nation, Gandhi's words underscored Subramaniam's influence and potential impact on society.

Dr. T N Subramaniam is survived by his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, who are actively engaged in roles within the Biden administration in Maryland, United States. Additionally, he leaves behind his younger brother, TN Ashok, an International Blogger known for his platform TNA Talk and former Editor (Economics) of Press Trust of India.

The passing of Dr. T N Subramaniam marks the end of an era in the realms of mathematics and technology. His profound contributions and visionary leadership will be remembered fondly, serving as an inspiration for future generations in both academia and industry.
