Pilgrimage turns fatal for NRI
family

A trip to an ashram in Puttaparthi for an NRI family
turned tragic when their cab collided head-on with
a bus, killing two members of the family and the driver,
and left another member grievously injured near Devanahalli
on Friday.
The victims, NRIs of Gujarati origin who had settled
in the UK for several years, came to the city on Sunday
for their annual visit to the ashram.
Around 7.30 am, the cab driver lost control over
the vehicle while overtaking a truck and collided
with a KSRTC bus coming from Hyderabad.
While Eshwar Lal B Patel (57) and cab driver Radhakrishna
(28) of Anantapur were killed on the spot, Patel's
sister Prabhavatiben Patel (63) was declared brought
dead at the hospital.
Patel's wife, Urmila (55) was rushed to a city hospital
where she is said to be critical, police said. The
victims were identified another cab driver of the
same travel agency who was trailing the car.
The bodies have been shifted to MS Ramaiah Hospital
where it will be kept till other family members arrive
from UK and the US.
