Healthy Mind in

I don't think there is a debate anymore about the need of regular
exercise for a Healthy Lifestyle. How many people make an effort
to exercise is a different story.
It is March 2006 already. This is a good time to start revisiting
our goals for this year including our goal to be healthier. Winter
is almost over and soon it will be spring and then summer. Big coats
and sweaters will be shedding revealing all the effects of over
indulgence over the holidays. That will remind us of our workout
plans and hopefully this year we will be able to stick with them.
Before we can enjoy the summer heat we have the current changing
seasons of spring. It is beautiful but the weather is cold one day
and warm the next. No one knows how to dress when they go out and
it is making everyone sick with flu, cold and cough. The germs are
being shared generously. This is a time when you can really stay
healthy by using simple common sense rules.
For starters, wash your hands often. You love your friends and
family but if anyone is sick, do not share utensils and don't let
them breathe on you. Blow a kiss. Keeping a safe distance will break
the cycle of passing the same cold to each other. Drink plenty of
fluids, eat well and take your daily multi-vitamins. Wear proper
covers for the weather and stay out of breathing distance from people
who are not well.
In case you do catch the cold or flu, seek a doctor's advice. Most
people take over the counter medicines for temporary relief. A lot
of these drugs make you sleepy or drowsy so you look for non-drowsy
formulas just to be able to go through the day. But, be very careful
when you take these non-drowsy formulas. I will tell you from experience,
and it is not a good one. If you take them too late in the day,
these medicines can keep you tossing and turning all night, you
loose much needed rest and feel worse the next day.
For now, the best thing to do is stay smart and safe. Take care
of your self and stay healthy. We will talk about exercising and
becoming healthier and fitter next time.
