Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, popularly known as 'Walking Singh,' has made the Indian community proud by winning the Movember UK and Europe Award 2025 in the "Going the Distance" category. He achieved this recognition by covering an impressive 508 kilometers to support men's health.
Movember is a global charity event dedicated to raising awareness about critical men's health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health. The organization praised Gurmeet as a true inspiration for his remarkable achievement.
A physics teacher at Gravesend Grammar School, Gurmeet has been a source of motivation for his students. Despite being told that he might never walk normally due to health concerns, he defied medical expectations. Determined to avoid surgery, he committed to daily walking, ultimately covering an astonishing 508 kilometers throughout the month of Movember.
He said:
"This Mo UK & Europe 2025 award is dedicated to the resilient young souls who are overcoming physical and mental health challenges. Your strength inspires me every day."
The darkest period of physical and mental hardship, transformed this physicist into the walkingsingh. I’ll keep walking marathons and ultramarathons, proving that staying healthy—both physically and mentally—is achievable for us all. If I can do it, so can you. I hope my walks will inspire young people to be more aware about their physical and mental health.
Grateful beyond words for the incredible support I’ve received on this journey.
A massive thanks to The Movember UK & Europe for recognising my efforts. I have attached a pic of their statement about me when nominated for the Mo award.
A huge thank you to the present and former students and colleagues of Gravesend Grammar School for always having my back.
To my amazing wife Kamaljeet Kaur, your unwavering love, freshly cooked meals, and care through hot and cold treatments kept me going.
And to my family and friends, your presence and encouragement have been my strength. With your support, my pains lessened, and my strength grew. Thank you all!"
