NRI Judith Prakash, Judge and NRI Shanti Pereira, National Runner were honored with Singapore's Annual World Awards

NRI Justice Judith Prakash, Justice ,72, was named Her World Woman of the Year 2024 for her remarkable contributions to Singapore's legal landscape. She became Singapore’s first female Judge of Appeal and has served on the Supreme Court Bench since 1992. Throughout her 31-year career, she authored over 645 judgments, many of which have shaped Singaporean law. Justice Prakash is a noted expert in commercial law and played a key role in the enactment of the International Arbitration Act of 1994, helping Singapore become a global arbitration center. Upon receiving the award, she expressed her gratitude for the recognition of her lifelong commitment to the legal field and her contribution to the country's legal development.

NRI Shanti Pereira, National sprinter, 28, was awarded the Her World Young Woman Achiever 2024 title for her outstanding accomplishments in sports. Despite facing challenges, including injuries and the loss of scholarships between 2018 and 2022, she rebounded to break national records in both the 100m and 200m sprints. At the 2023 Asian Games, she secured a historic gold medal in the 200m race, Singapore’s first track and field gold since 1974, along with a silver in the 100m. She currently holds national records in four sprint distances—60m, 100m, 200m, and 400m. Pereira was celebrated for her perseverance and role as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and young women in Singapore.

The awards were presented at a ceremony at the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach, attended by prominent guests, including Ms. Jane Ittogi, the wife of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. The event also introduced a new award category recognizing women’s contributions to Singapore's technology sector.

Her World editor-in-chief, Elizabeth Lee, commended both women for their resilience and achievements, calling Justice Prakash an inspiration for breaking barriers in the legal field and Pereira a national icon for her athletic prowess and international success.
