PUNJAB CM FELICITATES SANDEEP KAUR FOR MAKING IT TO
CIVIL SERVICES
CHANDIGARH MAY 07:
The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today felicitated Miss Sandeep Kaur, on her rare feat, who secured 138th rank in the All India Civil Services Examination.
In a congratulatory message, the Chief Minister complimented Miss Sandeep Kaur hailing from Morinda and her family members, saying she had really done a proud to the entire state by making it to the IAS despite her economically poor family background.
He said: “Notwithstanding her adversaries, Sandeep’s pursuit of excellence in qualifying the prestigious IAS exam would certainly motivate several other disadvantaged aspirants to excel in their career”. The Chief Minister also announced to soon honour Miss Sandeep Kaur for her rare distinction.

100.88 LAKH TONNES WHEAT PROCURED IN PUNJAB
Chandigarh, May 7:
Government agencies and private millers procured more than 100.88 lakh tonnes of wheat till last evening as compared to 104.25 lakh tones in previous year on the day.
Out of total procurement of 100.88 lakh tonnes of wheat in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 100.43 lakh tonnes of wheat (99.6%) till date whereas private traders procured 45204 tonnes (0.4%) of wheat.
Till May 6, PUNGRAIN had procured 16.76 lakh tonnes (16.6%) whereas MARKFED procured 23.40 lakh tonnes (23.2%). PUNSUP procured 22.60 lakh tonnes (22.4%), PSWC procured 11.12 lakh tonne (11.0%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 10.21 lakh tonnes (10.1%) of wheat.
The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 16.32 lakh tonnes (16.2%).
The spokesman added that District Ferozepur with 11.47 lakh tonnes of wheat procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Sangrur with 9.19 lakh tonnes at second slot and district Patiala with 8.19 lakh tonnes ranked at third position.
