VICTORIA FALL SYNDROME GRIPS SUKHBIR BADAL

Jagraon, May 12, 2010
raman kumar

Recent flux of  events in political landscape of Punjab has unnerved its already bewildered Deputy Chief Minister  S.Sukhbir Singh Badal , whose efforts to cobble together a strategy to save his own political extinction seems to be falling apart in bits and pieces and the myth about his leadership abilities within his own party and government exploding in the wake of non-deliverance and abject performance.

Therefore he is trying his hand on everything from being part of mass entertainment through kabaddi to  taking credit for projects ( like  Air India Delhi-Ludhiana air connectivity) which are altogether somebody else’s baby. With time ticking he is in the grip of Victoria Fall Syndrome where all last minute efforts will be in vain and the he has to go along the fall and get drowned.

An assemblage of more than one lakh congressmen, from every corner of Punjab, at Amritsar on 9th May to give rousing reception to Capt Amarinder Singh (whose expulsion was declared unconstitutional by Supreme Court of India) has pushed panic button among Sukhbir and his coterie who are frantically pacing helter-skelter to keep face by unleashing media whirlwind ,with public money, through big budget advertisements.

Air India Ludhaia-Delhi air connectivity  has happened solely because of year long dedicated and persistent efforts of Ludhiana’s Lok Sabha Member Of Parliament  Manish Tewari . Punjab Government and S.Sukhbir Singh Badal were in touch with Kingfisher Airlines management to start Ludhiana – Delhi flight and had infact announced mid April date for flight to commence. It did not happen for the reasons best known to Kingfisher and Punjab Govt. But when efforts of Manish Tewari fructified in getting Delhi-Ludhiana air connectivity established , a dash to highjack credit of air flight is being orchestrated by Punjab Government at behest of graceless Akali leadership.

Confusion is so compounded in Sukhbir’s  camp that they are undecided about the core image they want to project of Akali generation next leadership. This ham handiness and un-dexterity  of Akali leadership has taken toll of Punjab’s economy and infrastructure creation. Flimsy antics of seeking credit for un-put efforts will get exposed in media enlightened Punjab and the Akali’s will have nothing but egg on the face.
