All set to complete of record 14 ROBS/RUBS in coming six months
Reiterates commitment of overall development of Bathinda
Bathinda, May 11;
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the State government was making rapid strides towards realizing the dream to provide world class infrastructure with inauguration of 3 RoBs today and 14 other Railway Over Bridges/Railway Under Bridges with collective cost of Rs 360 crores during next 6 months. Besides this, ongoing up-gradation programme of all major as well as important roads is also all set to reflect the performance of the SAD-BJP government, he added.
While addressing an impressive gathering after inaugurating a Rs 29 crore ROB here on Bathinda-Dabwali road, Mr. Badal informed that the work on another 18 ROBs having joint cost of Rs 350 crores would also start within 3 months.
Mr. Badal, who today inaugurated two other ROBs at Tanda-Sri Hargobind Road and Dabwali-Malout road besides a submersible Bridge at Bhangi Choe in Hoshiarpur, revealed that two more ROBs on Batala-Dera Baba Nanak Road and another on Jagraon-Raikot Road would also be inaugurated in this month of May. He said that the month of June would witness completion of 7 ROBs and RUBs .
He informed that Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways has recently approved various road projects of cost Rs. 1879 Crores and Chairman, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is visiting Punjab next fortnight to discuss and remove impediments coming in the way of expeditious completion of road projects in the State. The prestigious road projects include four laning of Chandigarh-Patiala-Bathinda road, Amritsar-Pahankot road and Chandigarh-Ludhiana-Moga-Ferozepur, he added.
Mr. Badal said that SAD BJP Government was moving with a commitment to strengthen power sector to attract investment in the state. He said that against total installed capacity of 6800 MW achieved in 62 years, during last three years alone three major thermal plants at Talwandi Sabo, Goindwal and Rajpura besides 29 mini bio-mass power plants are set to generate 4540 MW power with a combined investment of Rs. 22000 crore. He said that Punjab would be only state in the country having distinction of three International Airports out of total 13 in the country besides two domestic airports at Ludhiana and Bathinda.
Reiterating his commitment to ensure overall development of Bathinda, Mr. Badal said that with the completion of remaining ROBs/RUB, Construction of a Rs. 150 crore Ring road, broadening of Bathinda-Dabwali road, setting up of Rs.500 crore Textile Mill on Bathinda-Faridkot road besides installation of ultra-modern RO system in each ward and 100 percent sewerage connectivity and above all setting up of domestic Air Port would ensure the city a world class look.

MALOUT GETS RAILWAY OVER BRIDGE
PROMISES WORLD CLASS STADIUM

Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, the Deputy Chief Minister Punjab today fulfilled his emotional journey as he inaugurated Railway Over Bridge on Malout-Dabwali road constructed with a combined cost of Rs. 21 Crore fulfilling the desire of his mother Mrs Surinder Kaur Badal.
Addressing a massive rally at Malout in an emotionally chocked voice Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “This is a humble gift of a son to his mother on Mother’s day.Kaur Badal is getting treatment in US these days. He said that his mother had emotional bonding with the city Malout and had always tried for overall development of the city.
He said that with the construction of RoB the economy of this town would get a boost, fulfilling the long cherished desire of his mother. Recalling his early stint in political arena, Mr. Badal said that this town has given him elementary lessons of politics and he had always visualized overall development of the city.
Mr. Badal said that SAD-BJP assumed power three years ago and promised to the people to create world class road infrastructure, opposition party termed it a pipedream. He said that timely completion of these mega projects have sealed the lips of those people who had been crying hoarse about the ‘failure’ of the government.
Mr. Badal said that difference between previous government and this government can be felt by the people as we are going to inaugurate three ROBs, one bridge and one ISBT today itself with the combined cost of Rs 62 Crores. He said that SAD-BJP government has already provided employment to over 47000 youth and 19000 vacancies would be filled this year. Mr. Badal said that inauguration of these projects have provide one thing that we deliver what ever we promise to the people of Punjab.
Stressing upon the need for developing infrastructure and making Punjab Power surplus, Mr. Badal said that with the commissioning of Goindwal, Talwandi Sabo, Rajpura Thermal Plant and strating work on Gidderbaha Thermal Plant, the Punjab would add 6500 MW power to existing 6295 MW generation capacity.
He said that with the approval of 3 International Airports, Punjab would be the only state to have distinction of 3 International Airports in the state, out of total 13 in the country. Impressing upon the promotion of sports, Mr. Badal said that 8 stadiums including Bathinda would be upgraded and floodlit; besides 6 others would be equipped with Astroturf and would be floodlit.
He said that 7 Nation Hockey tournament would be held in these stadiums in December this year. He castigated the UPA government for not controlling prices of essential commodities and said that the state government was spending Rs 700 crores annually to provide subsidized Atta and Dal to 14 lacs poor families. He also proposed a stadium for Malout and asked the local people to provide the desired land for it.
Mr. Badal today said that the Punjab would be the only State in the country that would have all the main cities and towns connected with four lane or six lanes highways by the end of next year. Mr. Badal said that SAD-BJP government has already completed 10 ROBs/ RUBs at the combined cost of Rs 161 crores during last three years.
He said that three ROBs are being inaugurated today and 14 more ROBs/RUBs with the collective cost of Rs. 191 crores would be inaugurated within next six months where as work on another 18 ROBs would start next year.

PUNJAB CREATES A RECORD OF SORTS – FIVE MAJOR PROJECTS INAUGURATED IN A SINGLE DAY
SUKHBIR DEDICATES THREE ROBS, ONE BRIDGE AND ONE ISBT TO THE PEOPLE
Chandigarh May 11- Punjab created a record of sorts when Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today inaugurated five projects including three Railway Over bridges, one submersible bridge and one ISBT with a combined cost of Rs 62 crores in a single day. Never in the history of Punjab, five major projects have been inaugurated in a single day.
The Deputy Chief Minister today dedicated to the people of Punjab one Railway Over Bridge near Tanda on Tanda- Sri Hargobindpur road, another ROB on Dabwali- Malout road, third ROB at Bathinda – Dabwali road one Submersible Bridge on Bhangi Choe, Hoshiarpur and Bhagwan Valmiki ISBT on Balachaur – Dasuya Road at Hoshiarpur at the combined cost of Rs 62 crores.

101.64 LAKH TONNES WHEAT PROCURED IN PUNJAB
Chandigarh, May 11:
Government agencies and private millers procured more than 101.64 lakh tonnes of wheat till last evening as compared to 105.41 lakh tones in previous year on the day.
Out of total procurement of 101.64 lakh tonnes of wheat in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 101.14 lakh tonnes of wheat (99.5%) till date whereas private traders procured 50031 tonnes (0.5%) of wheat. Till May 10, PUNGRAIN had procured 16.87 lakh tonnes (16.6%) whereas MARKFED procured 23.59 lakh tonnes (23.2%). PUNSUP procured 22.80 lakh tonnes (22.4%), PSWC procured 11.17 lakh tonne (11.0%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 10.28 lakh tonnes (10.1%) of wheat.
The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 16.40 lakh tonnes (16.1%).
The spokesman added that District Ferozepur with 11.62 lakh tonnes of wheat procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Sangrur with 9.22 lakh tonnes at second slot and district Patiala with 8.19 lakh tonnes ranked at third position.

Punjab Government declares public holiday on May 14

An official spokesman of the Punjab Government said here today that the State Government have declared public holiday in all its offices, Educational Institutions and offices of Boards and Corporations located in Chandigarh and Punjab on May 14, 2010 on account of Tercentenary celebrations of Sarhind Fateh Divas.

CM DIRECTS MANDI BOARD TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW RURAL ROADS WITH IN NEXT SIX MONTHS
CHANDIGARH MAY 11:
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today gave in principle approval to the Mandi Board for the construction of new rural roads through out the state.
A decision to this effect was taken by Mr. Badal at a high level meeting of the officers of the Punjab Mandi Board and PWD (B&R) here at Chief Minister’s Office this morning immediately after arriving from USA, where he had gone to enquire well being of his ailing wife.
During the meeting, Mr. Badal telephonically inquired the present status of these roads from the various deputy commissioners and the MLAs of the different constituencies. He directed the Secretary Mandi Board to expedite the procedure for the construction of new rural roads and the repair of old ones with in their jurisdiction so that the entire work could be completed with in next six months.
It was decided in the meeting that the construction work of new rural roads comprising 16.7 KMs in Nawanshahr, 18 KMs in Banga, 17.36 KMsin Balachaur, 17.67 KMs in Patti, 24 KMs in Khadoor Sahib, 18 KMs in Nausher Pannuan, 20 KMs in Tarn Taran, 18 KMs in Jandiala Guru, 20 KMs in Attari, 12 KMs in Qadiana and about 10 KMs in Adampur constituencies would be commenced shortly.
Mr. Badal asked the MLAs to submit their lists of rural roads to be constructed in their respective constituencies so that the entire work could be taken up at the earliest. Likewise, the Chief Minister also directed the Mandi Board to immediately complete the on-going construction work of new mandis with in a stipulated time frame and also asked the Secretary to regularly monitor the progress of these works.
