FINALLY, BAJWA AND BITTU BOW TO THEIR INNER VOICE-CHEEMA

PUNJAB CONGRESS LEADERSHIP MUST RESPECT THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE ISSUE AND QUIT THE PARTY IF IGNORED BY 10, JANPATH

 Chandigarh, May 9

Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Secretary and Spokesman Shiromani Akali Dal today welcoming the initiative of marking question mark on CBI’s role in Tytler and Sajjan case under UPA rule, by Congress MPs Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa and Ravneet Singh Bittu, advised the whole Punjab Congress leadership that they should must respect the seriousness of the issue of delay in justice to the families of 7000 anti Sikh carnage victims and besides putting pressure on their high command to uncover the shelter they had been providing to culprits, must ensure speedy expedition of ’84 anti Sikh carnage trial on Gujrat riot’s trial basis.

In a statement issued here, Mr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that after playing dubious role in Parliament by interrupting Harsimart Kaur Badal, who was seeking justice for 7000 victims, Bajwa and Bittu’s current statement regarding the CBI’s role shows that their conscience was still alive, but they should confined to their words and quit the party if 10, Janpath ignore their voice.

Mr. Cheema wondered that why other congress MPs from Punjab were not with Bajwa and Bittu to seek Prime Minister’s intervention in this issue of great concern. He said that as both the Congress MPs had repented their misdeed, rest of Punjab Congress leadership must learn a lesson from them. He also asked Bajwa and Bittu to make public the details of their parleys with the Prime Minister and his response.

Demanding fast expedition of ’84 anti Sikh Carnage trial cases on the Gujrat riots trial basis, Mr. Cheema said that when day to day hearing can be ordered in Gujarat riots that held in year 2002 and incumbent elected Chief Minister of the State can be summoned for questioning by SIT, why Congress led UPA government was reluctant to ensure expeditious justice to 7000 Sikhs families waiting for justice for last 26 years.

He said that Supreme Court should immediately order a full bench day to day trial of 25 years old cases of ’84 anti Sikh carnage to expedite the justice delivery system. He said that people have lost faith in impartiality of CBI, therefore, Supreme Court should constitute Special Investigation Team of police officers with impeccable record to investigate the 25 years old case, collect evidence, provide protection to the witnesses and to pursue the cases for prosecution till all culprits were provided exemplary punishment.
