CENTRE OKAYS REVIVAL OF NURSING SCHOOL JALANDHAR

PUNJAB TO SET UP JAN AUSHIDHI SHOPS AT SUB DIVISION LEVEL

 

CHANDIGARH JUNE 21, 2010:

Union Health Secretary Sujatha Rao today approved to revive Nursing School, Jalandhar.

Decision to this effect was taken by the Union Health Minister during a meeting with Punjab Health & Family Welfare Minister Prof. Laxmi Kanta Chawla. Taking part in the deliberations Prof. Chawla apprised the Union Health Secretary regarding the many others pending issues like the approval of Indian Nursing Council (INC) for Nursing School Jalandhar, state illness fund, release of funds under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for the year 2010-11 etc. Responding in a positive manner, Union Health Secretary assured Prof. Chawla that all the issues would be sorted out in a time bound manner. He said that all the formalities regarding revival of Nursing School Jalandhar would be completed by June 28, 2010 to facilitate the State Government to impart General Nurse Midwife (GNM) Training Course for the current academic year 2010-11.

Union Health Secretary further approved the proposal of the state government to set up Jan Aushidhi Shops at Division level in the state to provide medicines at cheaper rates to the general public.

The Centre has also approved to get treatment through the charitable hospitals at government rates for the patients from BPL families suffering from life threatening diseases as there was a limited number of government hospitals in the state, which could provide health facilities for such diseases.

Union Health Secretary also assured that funds under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) for the financial year 2010-11 would also be released by June 30, 2010 to facilitate the state government for the timely implementation of pragramme Implementations Plan (PIP).

Union Health Secretary also approved to start Yoga Classes in ten districts hospitals and ten Jails in the state for which Yoga Teachers would also be employed. He also asked the state Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab to organize Ayurvedic Mela from 18th to 21st December 2010 at Amritsar. This Mela would be organized by FICCI.

Prof. Chwla thanked Union Health Secretary for showing concern over the issues related to Punjab.

Prof. Chawla was accompanied by Mr. Satish Chandra, Secretary Health & Family Welfare Punjab.

Phulkari, Punjab Government Emporium has organized an exhibition –cum- sale of its summer collection from 21st June, 2010 to 30th June, 2010 which was inaugurated today by Dr. Mrs. Ranjit Guru, w/o Mr. D.S. Guru IAS, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Punjab.

Heavy discounts of up to 50% are being offered on items which include Phulkari, Chikankari - Sarees, Suits, Dupattas, Gents Kuta Pyjamas, Kurtis, T- Shirts, Bed Covers, Gift items etc

Suspension of officers of Punjab Citrus Council

 

CHANDIGARH JUNE 21, 2010:

The Punjab Government has placed under suspension with immediate effect Mr Bikramjit Singh Chimni Chief Executive Officer ( CEO), Mr. Ekam Dhillon Senior Manager and Mr. Gurpreet Singh Nain Assistant General Manager of Punjab Citrus Council.

Disclosing this here today Agriculture Minister Punjab Mr. Sucha Singh Langah said that action has been taken due to their gross negligence and alleged fraud in the matter. He recalled that inquiry has also been conducted by the Chief Secretary Punjab and further action would be taken after the completion of enquiry.
