A2Z GROUP SIGNS MOU WITH PEDA
FOR 45 MW BAGGASSE COGENERATION PROJCTS

  • Punjab all set to achieve 400 MW power from cogeneration

 Chandigarh, April 22:  

Punjab Energy Development Agency(PEDA)  today signed an Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) with M/s A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services Ltd. that is the parent company of A2Z Group of companies, for adding 45MW of renewable power to the state grid from their three cogeneration power projects being set up by the company in the Cooperative Sugar Mills at Morinda, Nakodar and Fazilka in the state of Punjab.

Disclosing this here today Mr. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu, Chief Executive, PEDA said that MoU was signed by Mr .Balour Singh, Director, PEDA and Mr. Amit Mittal, Chairman cum Managing Director, on behalf of M/s A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services Ltd.  He said that this company plans to set up these cogeneration projects by adopting new and comparatively more energy efficient CFBC technology for these projects.

Giving the details of progress achieve by Punjab in cogeneration power sector Mr. Sidhu said that PEDA has already facilitated the commissioning of 232MW biomass / bagasse based co-generation projects in the state so far and was committed to achieve a capacity addition of 400MW by March’2011. He said that this capacity addition in the co-generation sector would provide a major boost to the industrial power generation sector and also contribute towards the state generation capacity addition.

He said that M/s A2Z Group has embarked on an innovative plan of adding 2000MW in the national grid through Renewable power especially through Biomass based power projects by the year 2015 in the country. 

He said that this group which was fast emerging in the area of Power & Waste Management, had a plan to setup renewable energy based projects through adoption of efficient & state-of-the-art technologies for generating power to the tune of 500MW, at a total investment to the tune 2500 Crore, in the next 5 Years, in the state of Punjab, due to the proactive and industry friendly attitude of the State Government through PEDA.

He said that M/s A2Z Group, that entered into MoU today is an ISO 9001 company, with core competence as an Electrical Business Group.  Mr. Sidhu said that A2Z has diversified into contributing its services to the core Indian Power Sector in the fields of Electrical Projects on Turn Key Basis in Rural Electrification, EHV Sub-Station, Transmission Line and Railway Electrification. A2Z recently diversified into the business domain of Infrastructure development which included; Waste – A Resource for the future, it redefines the concept of ‘waste’ – Environment Preservation through their business interests in Municipal Solid Waste, renewable Energy & cogeneration Plants, Liquid Waste Management etc.

Mr. Sidhu said that PEDA is the state nodal agency for promotion and development of renewable energy based projects such as bagasse / biomass power projects, micro/small hydro power projects, solar power projects and waste to energy projects, in the state of Punjab.

PPSC and G4S Security Services sign MoU

 for upgrading training methodologies

Chandigarh April 22:   

Punjab Police Security Corporation( PPSC ) and G4S Security Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. today entered into  an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for upgrading training methodologies to train private Security Guards, Security Officers and Security Managers.

The MOU was signed in the presence of DGP, Punjab, Sh. P S Gill, between Mr. M K Tiwari, MD, Punjab Police Security Corporation and Mrs. Rupal Sinha, Regional Managing Director, G4S here today.

Disclosing this here today Mr. M.K. Tiwari, MD, PPSC said the signing of MOU would strengthen the ties of Punjab Police Security Corporation and G4S in upgrading training methodologies to meet the new age changing needs of Private Security Sector. 

He said that in addition Course for CPO’s (Certified Protection Officer) would be carried out at PPSC under G4S guidance as per the standard of International Foundation for Protection Officers and those passing out successfully would  be absorbed for Security Services at good pay scales in the security industry.   Mr. Tiwari informed that G4S would provide free security consultancy including faculty for specialized topics.

Appreciating the novel concept of training of Private Security Guard by State Police Mrs. Rupal Sinha, Regional Managing Director, said that G4S would endeavour to provide employment to trainees of Punjab Police Security Corporation in Pan India. 

She said that G4S was immensely satisfied with the training of over 800 security guards, trained by Punjab Police Security Corporation that were employed with G4S.   She said that she has accepted the proposal of Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal to post trained computer literate Lady Guards’ to be posted for Human Resource department as CDO’s (Computer Data Operators).

It may be added that under the arrangements Punjab Police Security Corporation would run various certificate courses for private Security Guards, Security Officers and Security Managers.Punjab is the first state to provide training to unemployed youths (male and female) of BPL families as security guards under the initiative of Sh. Prakash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab and Sh. Sukhbir Singh Badal,  Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, to make them eligible to get suitable employment in Private Security Sector.

PUNJAB NOTIFIES SIMPLIFIED PROCEDURE TO FUND PLAN SCHEMES

CHANDIGARH April 22: 

In pursuance to the direction of the Punjab Chief Minister, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, the State Finance Department today issued instructions simplifying the procedure for release of funds for the Plan Schemes being implemented by the various executing agencies.

Issued after obtaining the approval of the Finance Minister, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, these instructions vest freedom and flexibility with the respective Administrative Departments to access Plan Funds upto 12.5% of the budgetary allocation, in the first quarter of the current Financial Year (2010-11), without approaching the Finance Department.

These instructions shall not only eliminate inordinate administrative processes and the attendant delays but shall also provide an immediate thrust to jump-start the implementation of the State's Plan Schemes in the current year.

An official spokesperson clarified that these instruction would extend the existing and approved Plan Schemes but in respect of the new schemes, that has been introduced for the first time, the prior approval of the Planning Department and the Finance Department would still be required. She also made it clear that in case any Administrative Department exhausted the stipulated budgetary quota of 12.5% within the first quarter, it was free to approach Finance Department for release of additional funds, after the submission of the requisite Utilization Certificate.

The spokesperson said the further instruction in this regard would be issued after 30.6.2010, after reviewing the experience with this format.

Punjab Government is implementing the current year's Plan Scheme with in total outlay of Rs 9050 crore out of which Rs. 4373 crore is being provided by the State Government’s Budgetary support, whereas remaining amount is being provided through External Financing and funding by statutory and corporate bodies like PIDB, Rural Development Fund (RDF) and the two new State-owned Power companies.
