SUKHBIR LASHES AT CONGRESS FOR SLASHING
RATION WHEAT
FROM 35 KG TO 12 KG PER MONTH
Chandigarh, March 27, 2009
Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, President Shiromani Akali Dal today made
a frontal attack on Congress led UPA Government for slashing the
monthly ration quota of wheat/rice for Above Poverty Line (APL)
families under Public Distribution System from 35 kg per month to
12 kg per month, just before announcement of Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing party workers and voters in different workers meetings
and rallies held in his whirlwind tour to Ferozepur Lok Sabha Constituency
at Ferozepur, Guruharsahai, Zira and Fazilka today, Mr. Badal said
that sincerity to implement their much touted promise in Congress
manifesto to provide 25 kg rice and wheat to BPL families at Rs.
3 per kg gets exposed from this very decision in which they had
already secretly cut the quota from 35 kg to 12 kg per month. He
said that Congress has promised subsidized wheat and rice to only
BPL families whereas according to Union Government norms, there
was hardly any BPL family in Punjab. He said that if they are sincere,
they should provide subsidized wheat and rice to all poor families
as per norms of blue card of Punjab Government. He wondered that
how families with more than average 6 members were expected to fill
their bellies with 12 kg wheat provided as ration for one month.
Mr. Badal said that Congress has tried to unsuccessfully emulate
the Atta-Dal programme of Shiromani Akali Dal but Congress party
of self seekers lacks commitment to implement any public welfare
scheme. He said that successful implementation of Atta-Dal Scheme
during two last year benefited over 12.95 lac families despite opposition
by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and then Finance Minister P.
Chidabram has not only silenced them but forced them to copy this
welfare programme in their manifesto. Mr. Badal said that Dr. Manmohan
Singh owes an explanation to the country that after terming Atta-Dal
Scheme in Punjab as ‘unviable, populist and unrealistic’,
how proposed scheme of Congress to provide wheat/rice at Rs. 3 per
Kg. could be viable.
Shiromani Akali Dal President said that this ‘Aam Aadami
Congress Sarkar’ was making all efforts to snatch two square
meal from the poor families by slashing the ration quota to 12 Kg,
what to talk of providing 25 Kg subsidised ration to them. He said
that a well oiled network of 13,989 ration depot spread all over
Punjab in more than 12600 villages were supplying 35 Kg. Wheat (Rs.
4 per Kg.) and 4 Kg. Dal (Rs. 20 per Kg.) by seventh of each month
without any complaint.
Terming Congress candidate Mr. Jagmeet Singh Brar as a paper tiger,
Mr. Badal said that Brar has done nothing in his career except sloganeering
to get media space. He said that Akali candidate S. Sher Singh Ghubaya
was man of masses who has risen from the grass root and knows the
difficulties of people.
Giving a detailed account of development projects initiated by
the SAD-BJP government during last two years, Mr. Badal said that
government was spending more than four thousand Crores on upgrading
water supply and sewerage network in the towns. He said that SAD-BJP
government was committed to restore the old glory of Frozepore town
and if NDA comes to power, it would impress upon government to start
trade though border by opening Hussainiwala Border.
On these occasions, among others Mr. Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Minister
Irrigation, SAD-BJP candidate from Ferozepur Lok Sabha Constituency
Mr. Sher Singh Ghubaya and Mr. Sukhpal Singh Nannu, Chief Parliamentary
Secretary also addressed massive gatherings.
BADAL ASKS PUNJAB CONG
SIKHS TO CLARIFY STAND ON TICKETS TO SAJJAN, TYTLER ETC
Chandigarh March 26, 2009
The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal
said here today by nominating such “known killers of Sikhs”
as Sajjan Kumar, Pal Jagdish Tytler, as its official candidates
for the forthcoming Lok Sabha poll, the Congress party had not only
rubbed salt into the wounds of the Sikh community but had also humiliated
all civilized values. “Even an open admission and criticism
of the Congress guilt in this regard by no less a person than the
senior Congress leader and former Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan
Sabha had not forced others like Captain Amarinder Singh to search
their conscience and have the courage to oppose their party’s
decision to insult the Sikh community by honouring the killers of
innocent Sikhs,” said Mr. Badal in a statement here.
Mr. Badal said that he was really shocked at the
total absence of any conscience in such Congress leaders who never
gathered courage to oppose their party’s brazen anti-Sikh
stance. “If the Congress believes that it can cheat the world
at large merely by putting some Sikh poster-boys as dummies in places
of power, then this party was living in a fools paradise,”
he said.
The Chief Minister declared that tickets to those guilty of 1984
crimes against humanity would be very much an issue in the forthcoming
elections and Punjabis in general and our party workers in particualar
would confront the local Congress leaders, especially those belonging
to the Sikh community as to what were these leaders doing in a party
which was showering honour and power on the known killers of the
community. “The elections would be as much a mandate on the
poor performance of the Congress led government at the centre as
it would be on issues of moral and emotive nature, such as the 1984
events which were still a blot on the conscience of the nation,”
said the Chief Minister. Mr. Badal said that those who stuck to
a party of looters, killers and rapists for the sake of crumbs of
office had no moral right to speak on any issue concerning the community.
The SAD supremo further asked Punjab Congress leaders
like Captain Amarinder Singh to clarify their stand on the perpetrators
of massacre and mass loot against thousands of innocent Sikhs in
1984. “Captain Amarinder Singh had hypocritically held the
Congress leadership, the central government and the Nehru-Gandhi
family squarely responsible for the Operation Blue Star and for
the killing of innocent Sikh families and dis-honouring their women
folk. He had resigned on the ground that his conscience did not
allow him to be a member a party which was dominated by those guilty
of such beastly crimes. But it is clear now that he had resigned
from the Congress and joined the Akalis only as a part of a cold-blooded
conspiracy. He came to us with an ambition to become a Chief Minster
and when he found that that ambition was not getting fulfilled and
that the Congress was offering that post to him, he forgot all about
the tragic assault assault on the holiest of holy Sikh shrines,
the Harmandar Sahib, and also the brutal killing of thousands of
Sikh men, women and children by the Congress goons.”
IN RECESSION TIMES, COMPANIES INVESTING MORE ON
ENERGY CONSERVATION- DR.AJAY MATHUR
Chandigarh, March 26, 2008
Corporate India is spending more on energy conservation,
to cut the cost of production and to meet the challenge of competitiveness
in the post meltdown era of economic recession.
This was disclosed by Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General,
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), while delivering keynote address
at a 'Conference of Designated Consumers, Energy Auditors and Energy
Managers' organized here by Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA).
Mr. Mathur said that energy conserved by each Industry was acting
as a revenue multiplier and in times to come cost of energy saved
could also exceed the cost of energy consumed. This can lead to
a surprising phenomenon when energy cost instead of being reflected
in expenditure side of balance sheet would be projected on income
and revenue side.
Urging the public to use certified energy efficient
electrical gadgets and equipments with five stars BEE ranking, Mr.
Mathur said that world was heading towards unprecedented energy
crises if we continue to consume energy at present rate. He said
that keeping in view present energy requirement; India would require
2.5 times more power after 20 years. He said that as generation
of more power would lead to more pollution and resultant problems
of global warming, it was imperative for all of us to make concerted
efforts to conserve energy for the future generations. Dr. Mathur
said that there was a potential of saving 20000 MW of electricity
that could help to reduce the peak load demand which was presently
over 15%.He also mentioned about the various other schemes of the
BEE namely Bachat Lamp Yojna, Energy Conservation Building Code
and Agriculture and Municipal DSM.
Speaking on the occasion Mr.Viswajeet Khanna, Secretary,
Science, Technology and Environment expressed concern over fast
depleting fossil fuel resources in the world. He said that it was
surprising that 60 % of fossil fuels generated by the earth during
last 2 billion years have already been consumed by us in last 200
years. Projecting a grim scenario of the dark future, Mr. Khanna
said that with present rate of consumption, we have petrol left
for coming 43 years and coal reserves for 407 years. He said that
with 20 billions tonnes of Carbon Dioxide being generated in the
air, our future generation was heading towards difficult times.
Mr. T.P.S.Sidhu, Chief Executive, PEDA, gave over
view about the PEDA’s activities in the energy conservation
sector and welcomed the participants. He mentioned about the various
demonstration projects initiated by PEDA in the municipal street
lighting, PWD buildings, water pumping etc.

government for mishandling economy in post meltdown era resulting
in loss of jobs to 5 lakh persons during last two months alone.
Addressing various industrial associations on his visit to Fatehgarh
Sahib Lok Sabha constituency at Khanna today, Mr. Badal wondered
that what kind of economists were running the government that could
not foresee the crash of stock market from 22, 000 to 7, 000 level
resulting in loss of crores of rupees to small investors. He said
that short term economic policies of UPA have resulted in mass retrenchment
of five lakh employees during last two months. He said that Dr.
Manmohan Singh and Ms. Sonia Gandhi owe an explanation to the people
for missing 50, 000 crores from the exchequer of government of India
as submitted by CAG in their affidavit to Supreme Court.
Shiromani Akali Dal today got a big boost with various entrepreneur
industrialists and traders associations today decided to work collectively
for the victory of SAD-BJP candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha
constituency Mr. Charanjit Singh Atwal. . Blasting congress for
ruining industry in the state Mr. Badal said that deliberately granted
incentives to hill states to crush small scale industry of Punjab.
He said that it was Shiromani Akali Dal that has given long pending
industrial subsidy running into hundreds of crore. He said that
NDA after assuming power at centre would ensure same incentive package
for Punjab as available to hill states presently. He said that time
has come that people of Punjab should collectively bring NDA to
power so that Punjab industry could get its legitimate share in
the industrial development.

‘chameleon defector’ a lesson for life that he would
remember after forfeiting his security in this election. Mr. Badal

them after winning elections.
