SPECIAL COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION FOR GIRLS ON FEB 14TH

Chandigarh 28 January, 2009

To uplift the educational base and to prepare the students for competitive examinations Punjab Education department will conduct a special competitive examination for girls of class VI and VII studying in government schools in Punjab on 14th February.

Disclosing this today Mr. Krishan Kumar Director General School Education-cum-State Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Authority, Punjab said that this unique initiative has been taken for the first time by the educations department to prepare the students for competitive examinations. Giving details he added that there would be one paper consisting of 100 marks covering the subjects of Mathematics, Science, English and Social Science. The paper would be based on the Punjab School Board syllabi for these subjects and there would be 25 objective type questions from each of these subjects carrying 1 mark each, he added.

Mr. Krishan Kumar said that the girls getting first three positions in this examination in every block would be given cash awards worth Rs 2000/, 1500/- and 1000/- respectively. The timings for the paper would be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. More information could be obtained from the concerned District Education Officers as well as In-charge Girls Education or Deputy Manager (HRD) of office of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Authority, Punjab at phone nos. 93161-72771 or 98729-93356.


BADAL CONSTITUTES COMMITTEES UNDER SDMs TO VERIFY THE VERACITY OF CLAIMS FOR RURAL EVACUEE LAND-EXTENDS DATE FOR APPLICATIONS TILL APRIL END


CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 28, 2009

The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today constituted committees under the chairmanship of respective Sub Divisional Magistrates as Chairman with Tehsildars as member in all the Sub Divisions of the State to physically check the claim of possession of land for allotment of Rural Evacuee Land .

According to an official spokesman in a significant decision taken the Chief Minister today directed Revenue Department that it would be the personal responsibility of each committee to physically check the claim of possession of land and certify that before allotment of Rural Evacuee Land to the beneficiaries. The Chief Minister also extended the date for filling application for rural evacuee land up to April 30, 2009. He said that the committees has been constituted specially by Chief Minister to ensue transparency in allotment of land and to avoid future litigation.

The spokesman said that the committee would record that whether the claimant was in continuous possession of said land from the sowing season of Kharif, 2000 as entered into the revenue records. The spokesman said that Rural Evacuee land would be allotted to farmers of the general category @ Rs.15000 per acre and to the farmer of scheduled caste and backward classes @ 12000 per acre . He said that to facilitate the farmers the money would be recovered from them in 6 six monthly installments.

The spokesman said that presently 42195 acres of land was available in Punjab for allotment. The land would be allotted under Rural Evacuee Land Punjab Package Deal Properties (disposal) Act 1976 and its relevant rules.
