CM announces bonanza for residents of Naya Gaon

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today announced
a bonanza for the residents of Naya Gaon by promising a domestic
electricity & water connection to each house hold besides
registering them for issuing ration cards within a week.
An announcement to this effect was made by Mr. Badal here during
a largely attended public rally at village Naya Gaon. The Chief
Minister said that a decision in this regard was taken in the
meeting of the Cabinet held here yesterday under his Chairmanship
preceded by several rounds of meetings with the officers of PSEB
water and sanitation forests and district administration.
Mr. Badal personally introduced the Superintendent engineer
of PSEB Mohali, Executive Engineer water supply and sanitation
and the district Food and Civil Supplies controller to the residents
of the Naya Gaon who were present there for releasing the electricity
& water connections and registration of the ration cards
The Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs. 25 lacs for the
community centre at Naya Gaon for solemnizing various social and
cultural functions as people from different parts of the country
reside here since virtually it was a mini India. Mr. Badal said
that ‘’It is really an irony of fate that people of
Naya Gaon who lived in the close proximity of Chandigarh-City
beautiful has been deprived of the basic civic amenities of drinking
water, electricity and sewerage”. He said it was the endeavor
of the SAD-BJP Government to ensure all around development of
rural and urban segments so that the Punjab could be given a new
face lift. Mr. Badal also announced that adequate funds would
be provided for the construction of the office of local notified
area committee. Mr. Badal directed the forest authorities not
to interfere in the development activity of the area in the guise
of Punjab Land Preservation Act (PLPA). He also announced an adequate
compensation for a victim of village Durali whose buffalos were
burnt in a fire incident.
Earlier MLA Morinda Jathedar Ujjagar Singh Badali highlighted
the problems of the Naya Gaon and personally thanked Mr. Badal
for visiting this village and complemented him that he was the
only Chief Minister who had visit this area since independence.
He also expressed his gratitude for already releasing a grant
of Rs. 1 crore for the development of NAC Naya Gaon.
In his address Advisor the Chief Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema
and the SAD-BJP nominee from Sri Anandpur Sahib parliamentary
seat said that SAD-BJP government was committed for over all development
of the state and welfare of all sections of the society. He thanked
Mr. Badal for reposing confidence in him and hoped that he would
come up to the expectations of the people in order to cherish
their aspirations.
Prominent among other who were present on the occasion included
president NAC Naya Gaon Harbans Singh Bajwa, District President
BJP Khushwant Rai Geega, local Akali Leader Jathedar Amrik Singh
Mohali besides the senior leaders and party workers of SAD-BJP,
members of the SGPC and senior officers of civil and police administration
Mohali.
BADAL PLEADS FOR NAMING AMRITSAR AND MOHALI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
AFTER SRI GURU RAM DASS JI AND SHAHEED-E-AZAM BHAGAT SINGH

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today asked the
Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India (GoI) to name
the International Airport at Amritsar after Sri Guru Ram Dass
ji and Mohali International Airport after Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat
Singh in view of the sentiments of the people of Punjab.
While addressing the gathering, Mr. Badal raised this issue
with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Mr. Praful Patel here at
Rajasansi International Airport on the occasion of the inauguration
of Integrated Terminal Building and said that he had already impressed
upon the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and has had also taken
up this issue several times with the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
He also urged Mr. Patel to get the ‘No Objection Certificate’
issued from the Ministry of Civil Aviation for setting up an international
airport to be constructed in PPP mode near Ludhiana as the Ministry
of Defence had already given its approval. Likewise, he also requested
the Union Civil Aviation Minister to give clearances expeditiously
for the upgradation and modernization of existing Shanewal airport.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Ministry of Civil
Aviation had already approved the setting up of two flying academies
one at Talwandi Sabo and another at Faridkot to train our youth
in flying which had now become a lucrative profession. He also
sought financial and technical support from the ministry of civil
aviation to establish a world class university of civil aviation
in Punjab and urged Mr. Patel to send a delegation of senior officers
from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to visit few Civil Aviation
Universities of international repute to study the structure and
pattern to establish University in the state.
Referring to the cancelled international flights of Air India
from Rajasansi airport, the Chief Minister urged Mr. Patel to
restore the previous schedule and frequency of these flights in
view of the heavy influx of approximately 1.5 lakh devotees daily
who visit Amritsar to pay obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib and other
religious and historic places. He also assured the Union Civil
Aviation Minister that the state government would also undertake
necessary formalities for handing over additional 44 acres of
land for the expansion of Rajasansi Airport at par with international
standards. He also pointed out that the state government had already
transferred 206 acres of land to the Airport Authority of India
(AAI) for its upgradation and modernization. He said that the
state government had also acquired 305 acres of land for the construction
of Mohali International Airport which now stand transferred in
the name of Airport Authority of India for this prestigious project
at an investment of Rs. 460 crores. He also said that the Bathinda
domestic Air port would also be made operational shortly and it
would surely boost the economic prospectus besides ushering in
an era of over all development and prosperity in the Malwa Region.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Patel assured the Chief Minister
that he would soon take up the issue of renaming the Amritsar
and Mohali international airports after Sri Guru Ram Dass ji and
Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh with Prime Minister so that it could
be cleared in the Cabinet. He also thanked the Chief Minister
for extending full cooperation and support for acquisition of
land for Rajasansi Airport and assured Mr. Badal that it would
soon be emerged as one of the best international airports not
in the country but in the world. He also promised that he would
soon restore all the cancelled international flights of Air India
from Amritsar international airport. He also underscored the need
to make optimum use of international airport Amritsar not merely
for transit of passengers but its services should be fully utilized
by the progressive farmers and the industrialists to export their
produce and products abroad to earn foreign exchange. He also
assured that the ‘No Objection Certificate’ would
be issued soon for setting up of an international airport near
Ludhiana within a couple of days.

Singh and Chairman AAI Vijay Parkash Aggarwal. The function was
also attended by Animal Husbandry Minster Gulzar Singh Ranike,

CS REVIEWS NEW AGRICULTURE SCHEMES WITH DCs
Chandigarh February 25 : The Chief Secretary Punjab, Mr. Ramesh
Inder Singh, reviewed the implementation of new initiatives taken
by the Punjab State Farmers Commission in a meeting of Deputy
Commissioners held in Punjab Bhawan Chandigarh.
Mr.. K.S.Pannu, IAS, Member Secretary of the Commission highlighted
the various new schemes initiated by the Commission with a view
to improve the income level of the farmers and to introduce new
technology for increase of agricultural production. Mr. R.I.Singh
laid more emphasis on the scheme of propagation of Net House technology
of vegetable production under which small and marginal farmers
can reap good returns from just one kanal of land. Commercial
dairy farming schemes which have been quite successful with the
farmers and for which Government is giving subsidy was also reviewed.
With a view to introduce new machinery in the State, the scheme
called Agriculture Service Centers in which the Punjab State Farmers
Commission has been providing a subsidy upto Rs.3.30 lacs was
reviewed and Officers were asked to send genuine cases for setting
up of Service Centers in the villages where all the new machinery
for agriculture should be made available. Adding further, he said
that Banana cultivation which has been successfully tested in
Punjab was also decided to be taken up on a large scale and he
asked the D.Cs. to submit the cases of willing farmers for subsidy
from the Commission. The scheme of supply of laser land levelers
both to cooperative sector and to the individual farmers was reviewed
in detail. It was also observed that trans-plantation of paddy
is the only agriculture operation which is done manually and during
the last kharif season paddy transplantation machinery has been
successfully tested in Amritsar district. Therefore, Govt. has
decided to supply 700 paddy transplanters at 50% subsidy. D.Cs.
were asked to identify the prospective farmers with a view to
introduce technology on a large scale. C.S. asked the D.Cs. to
take personal interest in the implementation of new agriculture
technology.
PUNJAB GOVERNMENT OPEN TO RECONSIDER ITS
DECISION ON SAINI COMMUNITY AS BACKWARD CLASS

A deputation of Saini Community today called on Punjab Chief
Minister Mr. Parkash singh Badal and expressed their reservation
over the issue of declaring Saini Community as Backward Class.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Punjab Government
said that since there was no unanimity regarding this decision
and therefore the state government was open to reconsider its
earlier decision.
PERSONEL FUNCTIONS IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTES BANNED-UPINDERJIT

The Punjab Government has directed to all the field
Education Officers, Panchayats and Local Bodies Department not
to allow the misuse of premises of Government Educational institutions
other than the academic purposes.
Disclosing this here today Dr. Upinderjit Kaur,
Education and Languages Minister Punjab said that the buildings
and playgrounds of educational institutions are only meant for
teachings and other educational purposes including national importance
events/functions. But it has came to the notice that the premises
of state schools/colleges were often being used for social parties,
marriages and other non-educational purposes, she said.
The Minister said that such private functions become
nuisances and become hindrances in imparting education to the
students as well as causes damages to the premises/playgrounds
of the institutions. Keeping in this view he has directed to all
the CEOs/DEOs/BEOs, BDPOs and EOs of municipalities not allow
the premises for private functions other than educational purposes.
In this regard the Secretary Education Department Punjab has issued
a circular to all the field education officers, panchayats and
local bodies department officers to comply the directions otherwise
the erring officials/school heads or PTA chiefs could face the
music.
