Harbhajan Singh Khayala joins SAD

Shiromani Akali Dal got a boost in Bathinda constituency as Mr. Harbhajan Singh Khayala a loyalist of Mr. Ravi Inder Singh former Speaker of Akali Dal 1920 and also son of former Rural development and Panchayat Minister late Baldev Singh Khayala along with a number of Congress Municipal Councilors of Mansa and President Artia association Munish Babbi announced their full support to party in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Punjab and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and pledged to ensure victory of SAD-BJP candidate from Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency

Today, this wave of support begins from 'Purani Anaj Mandi' Mansa where Artia association expressed their gratitude to Mr. Badal for solving the 15 years old problem of allotting the plots of 'Navi Anaj Mandi'.

Addressing a huge rally there Mr. Badal said that his primary motive was to clear all the obstacles that hinder the development and to begin a new era of growth and prosperity. He said that Shiromani Akali Dal is going to field a Badal family member for Lok Sabha from the Bathinda constituency and Congress may launch some outsider. "As we belong to area and are always amongst the people of the area, I believe that electorate will vote in favour of us and rejecting the son of a Raja who had not even visited his own constituency during his tenure as Chief Ministership ", said Mr. Badal.

Later, Mr. Badal visited the residence of Mr. Harbhajan Singh Khayala and thanked his family for joining the party. Mr. Badal promised Khayala that their family is now a part of his family and every respect will be paid to them.

Replying to media queries during a press conference there Mr. Badal declared UPA's 2009-10 Budget anti people. He said that Congress is well aware of the fact that they were going to be refused by people in coming Lok Sabha elections so the party is trying to loot the country by framing such a budget. He said that Congress always tailor made its polices to discriminate against Punjab. He said that debt waiver policy of Union Govt. was designed to keep most of the farmers of Punjab out of beneficiary list. He promised that their party will ensure lower interest rates up to 4% on loans for farmers besides waving off the debt against them. He said that as centre had majority of power and finance in its hand, development of Punjab can be guaranteed only once SAD-BJP got power in the coming Lok Sabha elections.


PUNJAB EMPOWER WOMAN BY EDUCATING THEM-SUKHBIR SINGH BADAL

Chandigarh, February 19

Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab today said that quality education besides sustained drive to create awareness amongst women about their rights and duties was only way empower them.
Laying the foundation stone of Bhai Behlo Khalsa College for Women at village Fafre Bhai Ke in district Mansa to be run by SGPC Education Society, Mr. Badal said that SGPC since last one hundred years was steadily working in expanding education network in Punjab with a focus on woman education. He said that it was matter of great pride for us that SGPC was running the second largest education network in India, first being that of DAV institutes.

Mr. Badal said that it was matter of shame that Punjab was having the dubious distinction as far as low male-female ratio was concerned. He said that Nanhi Chaan programme to educate the newly married couples regarding importance of girl child besides strict implementation of PNDT Act and Nawanshahar Model of creating awareness has already started paying dividends. He said that educating the girl child was the long term solution for this problem and SGPC was playing a great role in this field.

He said that he was proud to know that SGPC was imparting education to more than 50,000 students in 26 degree colleges including Medical and Engineering colleges and 42 Public and Sr. Secondary Schools mostly located in remote rural areas. SGPC was annually spending Rs. 27 crores on education sector alone.
It may be added that Bhai Behlo Khalsa College for Women at village Fafre Bhai Ke which would be constructed by Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee at the cost of Rs. 3 crores in 20 Acres of land. Village people contributed Rs. 50 Lakh for the purpose.

Mr. Badal informed that job oriented courses will be initiated in the college form next year. He said that this college will be beneficial specially for the girls whom parents hesitates to send them to co-ed institutions. He promised that government will also setup similar institutions in various districts and blocks of Punjab.
He said that present educational infrastructures woulsd also be used in such a way that same can be used to educate girls in the morning and boys in the evening. SGPC President Avtar Singh and Director SGPC Educational Institutions Gurmohan Singh were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister laid foundation stone of ultra modern jail at Mansa which would be constructed by Punjab Police Housing Corporation at the cost of Rs. 13 Crore in 21 acre of land. Mr. Badal said that this jail would be equipped with all facilities and prisoners would be kept here in humane environment. He said that similar jails would also be constructed in other districts of state. Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Jail Minister Mr. Hira Singh Gabria on the occasion.
