Sukhbir Singh Badal today gave a clarion call to marshal the unbundled
positive energy to decimate congress from the electoral scene
of Punjab. Addressing the largest ever gathering of youth organized
by Akali Dal's students wing Student Organisation Of India (SOI)
at polo ground here today Mr. Badal said that SAD owes its gratitude
to the youth power that has brought the party in power in Vidhan
Sabha Election and seeing the massive response of the youth today's
rally, it was certain that congress's days are doomed in ensuing
Lok Sabha Elections
The Deputy Chief Minister thanked the youth for showing faith
in his vision for Punjab and said that today's rally puts a stamp
of approval of the youth of the state on his progressive and futuristic
policies.
Lashing at Maharaja for ruining the lives of youth by not taking
any step to check smuggling of narcotic of in the state, Mr. Badal
said that he has set up a Directorate of Anti Narcotic under IG
R. P. Meena to wage a war against smuggling of drugs. He said
that non-resident Maharaja hardly spent a month in the country
and remained busy with her Pakistani friend Aroosa, putting at
stake the security of the country. He said that it was matter
of shame that being a Chief Minister of a State , instead of setting
any ideal example for youth of the State, he remained busy in
wining, dining and marry making. He said that it is strange that
Maharaja of Patiala representing Patiala and that too being a
Chief Minister spent 26 crores in five years for development of
Patiala whereas SAD –BJP Government has already spent Rs.
100 crore in the very first year for development of city.
Unveiling his futuristic agenda for channelising the energy
of youth Mr. Badal said that to provide world class higher education
facilies for Punjabi youth, Rs. 2000 crores Central University
was being setup in Bathinda besides Indian Institute of Technology
at Ropar and Indian School of Business at Mohali. He said that
Ambani Group has already agreed to setup Dhirubhai Ambani University
of Information Technology at Ropar. He said that one Adarsh School
each block with capital allocation of Rs. 400 crores would be
setup in next two year.
Reiterating his resolve to bring out youth from the clutches of
drug addiction Mr. Badal said that he as a sports minister was
giving a major impetus to sports to channelize the energy of youth
positively. He said that three Punjab Institute of Sports on the
lines of NIS Patiala would be setup one each in Majha, Malwa and
Doaba regions of the state. World class Training in Eleven games
would be provided to youth in these institutes. 1200 villages
each year would be given Rs 1 Lakh each for sports equipment.
World Kabaddi Tournament is being organized in Punjab with the
participation of teams from various countries and Punjab and winning
team would get prize money of Rs. 1 Crore.
Accusing Amarinder for ignoring youth of Punjab by putting ban
of government jobs during his tenure, Mr. Badal said that it was
shamefull that many applicants became over aged waiting for jobs
of five year. He said that his government took the first step
to lift the ban on recruitment, giving jobs to 14000 teachers
during first 18 months. He said that the decks are clear to recruit
21000 more teachers besides launching massive recruitment drive
in health, Police and PR department.
Announcing the constitution of youth development board under
the chairmanship of Mr. Gurpreet Singh Raju Khana Mr. Badal said
that board has given mandate to consolidate the demands and aspirations
of youth in a report so that he could get each demand processed
in respective department for its early implementation.
Earlier addressing on the occasion Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia MLA
from Majitha ridiculed that Amarinder was fastly moving to oblivion
tracing the path of Ex Deputy Chief Minister Haryana Mr. Chander
Mohan. SAD General Secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra said
that Patiala was all set to move on fast-lane of development under
the leadership of Mr. Badal. Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal,
President Youth Development Board and SOI president Mr. Gurpreet
Singh Raju Khanna also addressed the rally. Mr. Harmail Singh
Tohra, Mr. Surjit Singh Kohli and Mr. Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur
(former Ministers), Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra Chairman Patiala Planning
Committee, Mr. Tejinderpal Singh Sandhu former Chairman SS Board
Punjab, Mayor Mr. Ajit Pal Singh Kohli and Mr. Kirpal Singh Badungar
are also present on the occasion.
Earlier Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today laid
the foundation stone Rs. 200 Crore state-of-art bus terminus here
today to ensure 'airport equivalent' facilities to ordinary bus
commuters of the Punjab.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone of art bus terminus,
Mr. Badal said that it was SAD-BJP Govt. that was taking care
of ordinary passengers whereas Congress Government focused on
rich and elite. He said that after providing air-conditioned bus
travel to commuters at virtually ordinary rates, now Punjab was
all set provide world-class facilities to commuters. He said that
this air conditioned bus stand, first of its own kind to be constructed
in India, would have air conditioned passengers concourse with
shopping area, international standard bus bays, electronic passengers
information system, baggage trolleys, computerized ticketing and
reservation, hi-tech security system with CCTV etc.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that this terminus to be constructed
on 14 acre prime period of 18 months . He said that the enclosed
passenger concourse would be centrally air conditioned to provide
ambient conditions to passengers and the walls of the enclosed
passengers concourse would have safety glass glazing so that the
movement of buses etc. would be seen from inside the passengers
concourse . He said that separate passengers waiting halls would
be provided for the passengers with all kind of rest facilities
like comfortable seating , wash room etc. and an access would
be provided from the passengers concourse to the rest of the project
facility by means of an escalator or elevator . Mr. Badal said
passengers concourse would provided with facilities such as food
courts, rest rooms, family entertainment like games , TV s , Restaurants
, Bank ATM s, phone booths, location maps , information on tourist
destinations and city etc. and separate facilities would be provided
for children/kids to pass their time while waiting for the respective
bus .
He said that one of the most components of a bus terminal are
the toilets /wash room gents ladies and handicapped with adequate
number of WC and at least two bathing areas for out station passengers
to get fresh. Wash room should also be provided with hand dryers
and towel tissues . Automatic shoe shining machine would also
be installed in the toilets and else where in the bus terminal
where ever essential . The wash room shall have mechanical ventilation
as part of the HVAC system .
Mr. Badal also laid the foundation stones of Rs 6 crores projects
including community centre at Ranjit Nagar and Siuna-Hasanpur
link road.
471 VILLAGES OF MALWA TO HAVE CLEAN DRINKING WATER
Chandigarh February 18:
The Punjab Government has chalked out an extensive
Plan to provide Reverse Osmosis i.e. RO based safe drinking water
popularly known as "Saanjha Paani" in 471 identified
problem villages of Six Districts of Malwa region of the state
by 31st of March this year. A provision of Rs. 25 Crore had been
made for this project. This technology this technology was being
installed by "Naandi", a social organization in collaboration
with Punjab government .This was disclosed here today by Mr. Manpreet
Badal, Finance Minister Punjab while celebrating the completion
of one year of RO System installed in Gidderbaha Constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Badal said that he
deliberately chose Gidderbaha , his own constituency because of
the large number of detected cancer cases due to consumption of
contaminated water and also the under water table was so polluted
that people were forced to drink water which was not fit for consumption.
He said it was a dream comes true for him that his entire constituency
of 57 villages had been covered under this scheme. Gidderbaha
was now the first constituency in the whole of India to have been
fully covered with this scheme of providing potable water to its
people. Adding further, he said that at present there were 1.5
lakh users in the constituency.
Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal also said that the huge
storage water tanks with a capacity of 20,000 liters per hour
have also been installed in the villages so that the electricity
problem may not interrupt the system. He also said that after
the installation of RO system in his constituency majority of
population is free from diseases like Hepatitis A and E typhoid,
diarrhohea and other dental problems.
BADAL APPEALS PEOPLE FOR CHANGE OF GUARD AT CENTRE
OUST UPA GOVERNMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH OF PUNJAB
Muktsar, February 18:-
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today disbursed
development grants to 46 village panchayats worth Rs. 50 crore
during the Sangat Darshan porgramme at village Seerwali, Kannianwali,
Mandi Khappianwali, Fattanwala and Udaykaran in District Muktsar
and listened to the grievances of the people for on the spot redressal.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Badal said that the Punjab Government
had already envisaged a massive programme of Rs. 3500 crore for
revamping the century old dilapidated canal system. He also said
that Rs. 25.35 crore had already been sanctioned for the construction
of new water channels and distributaries to increase the water
intake capacity from Mudhki distributary, Mudhki minor 1 and 2
Golewala, Lubhaniawali, new Chauntra minor and Bahelewala minor.
Mr. Badal also pointed out that under the National Health Insurance
Plan, 2.81 lakh beneficiaries amongst the poor families from 8
districts have been covered under this scheme. He said that a
poor family could avail of indoor treatment for its 5 members
just by paying an annual premium of Rs. 30 upto Rs. 30,000 in
170 hospitals of Punjab Health System Corporation or the private
hospitals approved by the Punjab Government and National Insurance
Company.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the people to give full
support and cooperation to the SAD-BJP candidates in the coming
Lok Sabha polls by capturing all the 13 seats to ensure the installation
of BJP led NDA Government at Centre for the development of the
state and the welfare of all sections of the society. He said
Congress always adopted an indifferent posture towards Punjab
and followed a policy of divide and rule thereby divesting state's
due share in river waters, denial of Chandigarh as Capital and
not transferring the Punjabi speaking areas of Haryana to Punjab
and above all the attack on the holy shrine of Sri Harimandir
Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar which resulted in the 1984 Anti
Sikh riots in which thousands of innocent people lost their lives
and property worth crores of rupees was ransacked. He assured
the people that farmers would get remunerative prices of their
produce and the common man would get all the basic amenities of
food, clothing and shelter if NDA Government was voted to power.
He appealed the people to cast their franchise in the favour of
SAD-BJP candidate Mr. Sher Singh Ghubia from Ferozepur Lok Sabha.
Lashing at Capt. Amrinder Singh for his utter misrule of 5 years,
Mr. Badal said that he did nothing worth mentioning for the development
of the state and the welfare of the people except looting and
intimidating them and followed the policy of leisure and pleasure.
He categorically said that he did not believe in the politics
of vendetta and his party has not harassed anybody on this count
during its regime of 2 years. He said the allegations of Congressman
that our party had leashed a reign of repression were totally
baseless and politically motivated.

included SAD-BJP candidates Mr. Sher Singh Ghubaya from Ferozepur
Lok Sabha seat, Former Member Parliament Mr. Gurdass Singh Badal
MLA Jalandhar Cantt Mr. Jagbir Singh, District SAD President Muktsar,
Mr. Manjit Singh Bakrandi, Chairman Punjab Agriculture Development
Mr. Sukhdarshan Singh Marar besides the senior leaders and party
workers of SAD-BJP and members of the SGPC.
