Mr.
Bikram Singh Majathia Minister for Information and Public Relations,
Water Supply and Sanitation, Science and Technology Punjab and
Patron All India Youth Akali Dal has announced that the Youth
Akali Dal would launch an agitation (Morcha) against the Congress
Govt. in Center for its discriminatory and apathetic attitude
against Punjab farmers and the spiraling price rise which had
crushed the common man. The date of the Morcha will be fixed shortly
in consultation with the SAD President.
Mr. Majithia unfolded the program while addressing a largely
attended conference of Youth Akali Dal organized to mark the 47th
Birth Day of Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal President SAD at Alamgir
here, today.
Elaborating the program, Mr. Majithia said that during the agitation
the Youth Akali Dal Workers in large numbers will gather at Delhi
and will organize a Gherao (seize) of the residence of Mrs.
Sonia Gandhi chairperson of UPA, which will continue till the
Union Govt. correct its anti Punjab and anti farmer policies.
He said that the congress Govt. at Center had committed a number
of blunders to dishonor Punjabis, as it had attacked Darbar Sahib,
was responsible for 84 anti Sikh riots in which thousands of Sikhs
were killed and had adopted discriminatory attitude towards Punjab
farmers, who had bailed out the country from a grieve food crisis.
In the meeting Mr. Majithia also announced that a new program
dedicated to the birth day of Sukhbir Badal named "Jiwan
Dan Program" was also being launched by the YAD, under which,
51000 blood units will be donated by the youth workers by organizing
blood donation camps in all districts of the state. He said that
the district units of YAD will shortly conduct the camps and will
deposit the receipts of the donated units at the Chandigarh Office
of YAD.
The Minister further announced that a special tree plantation
drive was also being launched in the state by Youth Akali Dal
under which one lakh trees will be planted to improve the environment.
Highly appreciating the performance of the Students of India (SOI)
during the recent past it had launched a number of programs to
eradicate the social evils from the society including educating
the youth against the drug addiction. In future SOI will also
organize de-addiction campaign in the whole state to divert the
youth towards the development process of the state.
Strongly criticizing Mrs. Rajinder Kaur Bhattal President PPCC
raising questions on SOI and for launching a youth brigade of
Congress, Mr. Majithia said that Bibi Bhattal was resorting to
such gimmicks in desperation only and had no faith in the youth
wings of her own party i.e. youth Congress and NSUI . Listing
more achievements
of SOI He said that SOI had done excellent performance in settling
the dispute between students and bus transporters and taking the
case of international level Sikh boxer Pushpinder Singh, who was
being deprived of participation being a Sikh keeping beard and
hair.
Highly appreciating the contribution of Youth Akali Dal for
the installation of SAD- BJP Government in the state by making
unmatched sacrifices and organizing big rallies under the leadership
of S. Sukhbir Singh Badal before the Vidhan Sabha election elections.
He added that the youth workers had also played crucial role in
engineering the prestigious victories of SAD-BJP during all the
recent elections to Municipal Corporations, Zila Parishads, Panchayat
Samitis, Mid-term Vidhan Sabha election to Amritsar Assembly seat
and now in Panchayat elections under the guidance of Mr. Sukhbir
Singh Badal. He said that the whole youth of the state was proud
of Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, who had wisely led the Youth Akali
Dal in the most trying circumstances and in various Morchas and
agitations launched against the atrocities of previous congress
government. He said that now after becoming President of the party.
Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal had a comprehensive plan for the fast
development of the state and upliftment of the people. He asserted
that now Youth Akali Dal will play a frontal role to oust the
UPA government at Center during the next Lok Sabha Elections,
which were eminent in the near future, as result of withdrawal
of support by the Left Front. He assured the youth leaders that
the Govt. will suitably adjust them as per their performance and
would ensure proper respect in all the Govt. offices. He also
assured that the organizational set up of YAD will be completed
shortly in consultation with the Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh
Badal and President SAD S> Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Addressing the conference, Mr. Karanbir Singh newly appointed
President of Youth Akali dal said that the YAD will further enhance
its activities in full coordination with senior leaders of SAD
and will launch an effective drive will being launched by the
YAD to educate the people about the development for the welfare
plans of the SAD- BJP Government. He appealed the workers to get
ready for the coming Lok Sabha elections, so that the Corrupt
and anti Punjab Congress Govt. could be dethrone from the centre.
Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon General Secretary of SAD and former
President YAD who was honored with Gold medal for his excellent
leadership during last 8 years as president of Youth Akali Dal
said that Youth Akali Dal under the brave and far sighted leadership
of Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal had always remained in forefront during
all the adverse occasions for the party. He assured that the Youth
Akali Dal would be given full say in the functioning of the government,
as the party had great expectations from the YAD leaders.

Earlier Mr. Majithia inaugurated a newly constructed bridge
over Sidhwan Canal near Simlapuri.

PUNJAB GOVERNMENT TO SOON FILL UP VACANCIES
FOR BLIND
CHANDIGARH JULY 9:
The Punjab Government has decided to immediately clear the backlog
of the posts reserved for the blind and partially blind persons
in the state.
An assurance to this effect was given by Punjab Chief Minister
Mr. Parkash Singh Badal to a delegation of Naterheen Jagarities
Sangh Punjab (visually challenged persons) led by General Secretary
Dr.Parminder Singh which called on Mr. Badal and submitted a charter
of demands to him here at his official residence on Tuesday.
Mr. Badal asked the state Chief Secretary to direct all the Administrative
Secretaries and Heads of the Departments to intimate the position
of vacant posts in their concerned departments reserved for the
blind and partially blind persons so that these posts could be
filled on the top priority. The Chief Minister also asked the
Secretary Social Security to undertake an exercise to identify
the posts where such visually challenged persons could be adjusted
as they had tremendous capabilities and capacities. Mr. Badal
also asked the department of school education to utilize the services
and skills of visually impaired persons for teaching the subjects
like vocal & instrumental music and art & craft.
Likewise the Chief Minister also assured the members of the delegation
that state government would soon seek an opinion of the Advocate
General to ensure that the posts reserved for blind and partially
blind persons should be strictly given to the eligible persons
only under this category on the Haryana pattern and not to the
other categories like hearing impaired and orthopedically challenged.
The Chief Minister also asked the Secretary Social Security to
personally visit the state institute for blind at Jamalpur in
Ludhiana district this week to have first hand information about
the short comings in the institute in terms of infrastructure
and staff besides the hardships faced by the blind students. He
also promised to install a new in browsour machine for the printing
of brail books and literature for the blind students at a cost
of Rs.32 lakh for the Jamalpur Institute during the current financial
year. The Chief Minister also assured that the state government
would extent all possible help and financial assistance to the
institute to make it as one of the best institutes in the region
after Dheradun in Uttrakhand.

PUNJAB CM AND SUKHBIR BADAL MOURNS THE
KABUL TRAGEDY
CHANDIGARH JULY 9, 2008
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today expressed
profound grief and sorrow over the sad and tragic demise of Defence
Attaché Brig. Ravi Datt Mehta, Counsellor VV Rao and ITBP
personnel Ajay Pathania and Roop Singh who died in a blast near
the Indian Embassy in Kabul.
Describing them as the symbols of national pride and heroes of
national unity and integrity, Mr. Badal in a condolence message
said that the nation would always remember their great sacrifice.
"The singular example of their selfless courage and service
to the nation set by the martyrs will always continue to inspire
the countrymen", said Mr. Badal.
The Chief Minister assured the members of the bereaved family
of ITBP Head Constable Ajay Pathania who hailed from village Kanwan
in district Gurdaspur that the Punjab government would extend
all moral and material support to them in this hour of crisis.
Member Parliament and President Shiromani Akali Dal Mr. Sukhbir
Singh Badal also saluted the great martyrs and said that his party
would stand by the bereaved families. He said: "These martyrs
had laid down their lives for the sake of their motherland as
they had been working in extremely difficult conditions that required
unflinching courage and love for their country".
The Chief Minister and President SAD expressed their heartfelt
sympathies with the members of the bereaved families and prayed
to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and give
strength and courage to them to bear this irreparable loss.

Mr. Neelkanth S. Avhad, IAS Add ional Excise and Taxation Commissioner,
Patiala has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner,
Nawanshahr relieving Mr. Ajeet Singh Pannu, IAS of this additional
charge.
