EVEN as the Deputy Commissioner has marked an inquiry
into the alleged illegal resale of an
agriculture land in the Fatehpur Awana village of
the district, the party which had exposed
this alleged resale late last evening, has now sent
a representation to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh,
demanding appropriate action.
Addressing a press conference here today, Ravinder
Deep Singh and Amandeep Singh Gill, who claim to have
purchased the land along with another partner of theirs
Neeraj Khosla five months ago, said that as their
pleas were not heard by the any of the officials here,
so they have sent a written representation to the
Chief Minister.
When pointed out that Deputy Commissioner Anurag Verma
had already marked an inquiry, Ravinder Deep Singh
and Amandeep Singh Gill alleged that the resale had
been done under political pressure so they wanted
this matter to be investigated by the higher authorities.
They reiterated that they had purchased the land
from the general power of attorney of its original
owner. They alleged that now that man, who was earlier
the owner, wanted to again sell the land at higher
rates. They said a litigation was also pending regarding
the land.
Late last evening, high drama was witnessed at the
office of the Deputy Commissioner when Ravinder Deep
Singh and Satwinder Singh allegedly stopped some revenue
officials from registering a sale deed of the land
which they had already purchased five
months ago.
Ravinder Deep Singh and Satwinder Singh, both residents
of Phullanwal village of the district, came to the
DC office and called a number of reporters at about
9 pm. Talking to reporters, the two said they had
purchased a land measuring 4.5 acres at Fatehpur Awana
village. They said they had purchased the land about
five months ago at the rate of Rs 45 lakh per acre.
Deputy Commissioner Anurag Verma has ordered an inquiry
by M S Jaggi SDM (West) into the entire case of execution
of a sale deed in the office of Sub-Registrar Ludhiana
(West) in the late evening as reported in a section
of press today. The Deputy Commissioner asked the
SDM to inquire into the all aspects regarding this
case and submit the report to him at the earliest.
NRI from California in the US, Sant Singh Grewal,
who is the original owner of the land, denied the
allegations of having sold this land to Ravinder Deep
Singh and Amandeep Singh.
NRI, Grewal, specially came to Newsline office
this evening to give his side of the story. He said
he was settled in the US since 1984. He said he had
given the attorney of this land to Baljinder Kaur,
who is the wife of his brother-in-law Paramjit Singh.
Grewal said one Rajinder Singh Sahouli, who is his
distant relative, had prepared a fake power of attorney
and with this attorney he had sold this
land to Ravinder Deep Singh and others.
Grewal said he came to India in November last year
when he came to know that there was a dispute regarding
the land. He claimed that he brought this matter to
the notice of the authorities and a cheating case
was registered. Grewal said he was selling this land
to one Sanjiv Mahindroo. He said the officer concerned
had heard both the parties and when the fee was being
paid for registration of the sale deed, there was
a power cut of about one and a half hour. Then, he
said, there was a fault in the computer which also
took about an hour. He said the fees was to be paid
yesterday itself. He said they paid the fees and came
to their houses. Grewal denied that they were indulging
in any misdeed.
