The net amount of remittances sent by NRIs from different
parts of the world during 2003-04 was 18,885 million US $ in terms of
private transfers as compared to 14,807 million US $ in 2002-03. The
remittances in terms of NRI Deposits were 3,628 million US $ in 2003-04
in comparison to 2,976 million US $ in 2002-03.
This information was given to Rajya Sabha today by the
Minister of State (Independent charge) for NRI Affairs, Shri Jagdish
Tytler in reply to a question by Shri Shahid Siddiqui.
