Jagdish Joshi and Rasiklal Dhariwal barons
not cooperating with probe

A special court here today granted time to CBI till
July 15 to file a report on its probe into the alleged
links of Gutka barons NRI, Jagdish Joshi and
Rasiklal Dhariwal with the underworld, even as the
agency claimed both of them were not cooperating with
investigations.
CBI officials told the court that Joshi and Dhariwal
were not co-operating with them and sought two more
months to file a report.
However, the court granted time only till July 15
to the agency.
CBI said Joshi had moved the Bombay High Court demanding
permission to reside in Dubai for a year which is
still pending and the CBI is opposing his plea.
Two accused who were arrested in this case had allegedly
revealed during interrogations that they had exported
gutka pouch manufacturing machines to Dubai at the
instance of gutka kings and alleged that Joshi and
Dhariwal had helped Pakistan-based don Dawood Ibrahim
to set up gutka business in the neighbouring country.
The court had issued warrants against Joshi of Goa
Gutka and Rasiklal Manikchand Dhariwal of Manikchand
Gutka for their failure to appear in this case.
In April, special judge A P Bhangale had cancelled
the non-bailable warrant issued against Joshi as CBI
contended that Joshi had appeared before them for
investigations and was cooperating in the probe.
Both Joshi and Dhariwal were in Dubai and had expressed
their inability to come to India immediately saying
it would adversly affect their NRI status. Later,
Joshi returned and Dhariwal followed him. Both of
them have appeared before CBI on several occasions.
The court has granted permanent exemption to Joshi
and Dhariwal from appearance in this case.
