A court here Saturday sentenced four youths to life
imprisonment for kidnapping an Abu Dhabi-based non-resident
Indian (NRI) for ransom in 2001.

Holding Rakesh Sarhana, Santosh Shankar Acharya, Kartik
Subramaniam and Vipin Chaudhary guilty of kidnapping
and demanding a ransom of $700,000, Additional Sessions
Judge Dinesh Dayal also imposed a fine of Rs.14,000
on each of the convicts.
Seven people had kidnapped Tikket Sidhiqui March 12,
2001 and kept him at a house at Sarvapriya Vihar in
South Delhi.
The local police had freed him from captivity following
a gun battle in which three of the captors, Virender
Pant, Sanjay Khanna and Sunil Nathani, were killed.
"The prosecution has been able to prove the case
beyond all reasonable doubts," Dayal said while
pronouncing the judgement. (IANS)
