The leading personalities of classical music of India and the United States were brought together in a concert at Wadsworth Theater on Wilshire Boulevard on Sunday, for a fundraising for the Hindu Temple of Antelope Valley
Padma Bhusham Dr. L. Subramaniam, Master violinist, composer and conductor, a noteworthy pioneer of fusion between Carnatic music and the classical western music and Padma Shri Shrimathi Kavita Krishnamoorthy- a popular melody queen, a playback singer in the Indian movie industry graced the occasion. They were joined by Mr. Larry Coryell, a jazz guitarist, Mr. Corkey Siegel, a harmonica player, Mr. Ambi Subramaniam, violinist, Mr. John Weber, and several others.
The concert was organized by Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Hari Agarwal, Dr. Chaya Agarwal, and other Board members of the Hindu Temple of Antelope Valley.
Ms Dipali Singh, Master of Ceremony, is a popular singer, music teacher, and voice trainer in Southern California, who is called the Nightingale of Socal. She has had her training under Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan and Dr. Ameer Ahmed Khan also. She has recorded solo live performances for the Indian National Television, BBC Channel 4, National School of Drama (India), Afghan television and Indonesian Radio, to mention a few. She has lent her voice to and shared the same stage as award winning world renowned celebrities Jatin Pandit, Manoj Bajpai, Piyush Mishra, Shriram Iyer, Saurabh Shukla, Shoojit Sircar and Ustad Iqbal Ahmed khan. Her shows are power packed energy filled events. Dipali has been training under Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan Saheb and Dr. Aneesh Ahmed Khan of the Delhi Gharana. She received her Theater voice training from the well-known Bollywood lyricist, composer and actor Piyush Mishra.
