Sekhar Kammula graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Osmania University,
Hyderabad and came to USA to do his MS in Computer Science at University
of New Jersey. Then he got admission in MFA (Master in Fine Arts- 3 years degree) in film school of Howard University. After spending 5
years of stay in USA, he returned to India and joined Citicorp as a software professional.
Hyderabad Blues (1998), Boolywood movie was released in his city. The movie was about NRI vacationing back home in Hyderabad and finding himself a foreigner in his own land. This movie was with local customs of arranged marriage with the Western tradition of dating- cost about 17 lakh and ran for more than six months in Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Hyderabad Blues greatly inspired him to start his own movie.
Sekhar registered his first film 'Dollar Dreams' speak in 3 languages (Hindi, English
and Telugu) as Telugu language. He spent
Rs. 16 lakhs to complete 1st copy of 'Dollar Dreams'.
