CBI court rejects bail petition of Monica Bedi

Rejecting the bail petition of Monica Bedi, girlfriend
of underworld don Abu Salem, a special CBI court today
extended her judicial remand till December 19.
Bedi, who was lodged in Chanchalguda jail, was produced
before the special court for CBI C V Subramanyam at
3 pm for specimen signatures as urged by the CBI investigating
into a passport forgery case.
It took about half-an-hour to attest her specimen
signatures in the court.
The CBI obtained handwriting of Bedi in six pages
and specimen signatures in another six pages in front
of the judge.
After specimen signatures of Bedi which were obtained
by CBI to tally the signature in the passport obtained
under fictitious name, the judge extended her judicial
remand till December 19 and allowed her counsel to
meet her for five minutes in the court premises only.
However, he disallowed the request of Bedi's counsel
Sudhir Batra, a Delhi-based lawyer, that her uncle
Purushotham Lal Bedi also be allowed to be present
in the five minutes meeting.
The judge said her uncle can meet here in the Jail
after obtaining permission from jail auithorities.
Bedi is facing charges of securing a passport under
a fictitious name from Kurnool district of Andhra
Pradesh.
