In the name of love - In love with a Jewish girl

It’s a love story never told, never written before. It’s carved on a lonely heart enduring the passage of time. Blossoming into a muse, across the green valley, he saw her for the very first time. Their eyes met, and at once, their hearts were beating as one. The sound of their first greeting was a melodious tune echoing across the sky. He was just a boy, a German boy, in love with a Jewish girl. As pure and innocent true love can be, they wished to transcend the segregation of their worlds. A tender kiss touched her lips when he sealed forever on the power of their love.

Abruptly, as a raging snowstorm, she was taken away. In the struggle, she gave him the Star of David pendant with a chain that her mother placed around her neck at birth. From a distance, wherever she was, she felt the beating of their hearts as one. Seasons went by, and miraculously one day she came to know his whereabouts. He enlisted for service with the resistance of a foreign country to give back to the Jews of that nation their birthright. Fighting for a noble cause, he died. While many others were killing the Jews, he gave his life for one. As he was falling down, he held tight to a chain around his neck. And the angels awaiting his soul heard him whisper- I am in love with a Jewish girl.

With every passing season she is reminded by his spirit that her life must go on- his love forever will be. For the most part, the world is a better place because of the legacy of courage and hope left behind in the name of love…
