A young entrepreneur, a seasoned businessman, Raman Chadha of Los Angeles elected President of IALA (India Association of Los Angeles).

IALA is a "not-for-profit" is a legally constituted organization whose primary objective is to support or to actively engage in activities of NRI community. It was established in 1999 and its mission is to introduce, promote and enhance awareness of the heritage, culture and traditions of India through presenting various cultural and social events.

India Association of Los Angeles does two events a year:

• Republic Day in January
• India Independence Day in Aug. More than 12000 people come to this event every year

Our NRI (non-resident Indians) community in the US has, over the years grown in leaps and bounds. It is interesting to note the various associations that we Indians have formed depending on the region in India we hail from......Gary Singh
