I: Mauritius will soon have a Shirdi Sai Baba temple of its own.

The temple, which would be constructed by an Indo-Mauritius Cultural Association, would serve to strengthen ties between India and Mauritius.

"We have decided to take a leap in terms of spreading peace, brotherhood and harmony across the world," said a statement from the association.

Of the 1.2 million population of the Indian Ocean island nation, 68 percent are of Indian origin.

The headquarters of the faith based on the life of Indian mystic Sai Baba, who died in 1918, is at Shirdi, 296 km from Mumbai.
